Ballots have to be sent in on the last day of the season. Postseason performances therefore have nothing to do with the votes. Either pitcher would have been a fine choice. Beckett just barely beat him in ERA+ but CC did have about 40 more innings. That is a significant difference.
I don't even understand the Posada deal. Yes he was a superior player last season but he will be 40 when his contract runs out. Oh well, if any team can afford a shitty contract, the Yankees can.
