Well, I knew plenty of evangelicals who really, truly believed that masturbation was a massive sin, and they suffered all kinds of guilt from it. You could have used BoR's quote verbatim for some of the guys I knew. The guilt from the church really messed with their minds and their attitudes towards sex in general... I think some of them still suffer from it to this day.
