I'm the only person in this thread (I think...) that mentioned banning. It wasn't because I didn't understand--I understand just fine. Here's what I understood: a newbie posted an incomprehensible OP that was impossible to discuss. The mods approached him per standard practice to encourage him to make it at least a discussion-able thread. He replied with a public post in General Discussion bitching about the board's policies and calling them "Motherators". He's displaying an unwillingness to follow the very clearly stated rules of the board.
I'm sure he's a fine person in real life. Clearly intelligent, though perhaps a bit challenged at expressing it. But this isn't a democracy, and it never has been. People have been banned for being too bull-headed to comply with the rules, happens all the time. I don't see why this instance should be different just because the guy talks like a sophomore philosophy major.
Now: he could post something right here in this thread that would completely diffuse the infraction. He could do that with a sentence or two. But from what I've seen of him so far, he's flat unwilling to do that. And the proper response is for TFP to be flat unwilling to have him as a member.
The Mods enforcement of the rules is like physics--action X causes reaction Y, and it's not emotional or personal. That's the best way to enforce rules. It's like gravity. Gravity doesn't explain the rules or make exceptions, and if you don't follow the rule of gravity, you end up on your ass.
