I've heard of people going at it on dance floors but I have yet to see it myself. Then again, I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't common place (somewhat) at some of the really popular and crowded clubs.
I agree that at gay clubs it's probably somewhat more common but I don't know from experience.
But hey, you didn't get kicked out and I'm guessing you enjoyed it so I wouldn't be ashamed.
