analog, you are incorrect. Both variants of HSV can be transmitted to genitals. Read the link I posted above. One is more common on or near the mouth and one is more common on genitalia, but both can land in either location.
However, I do agree that saying you have cold sores is having an STD is a bit of a stretch.
