That's a very simplistic way of looking at the issue.
DRM is a big deal if you want to be able to have multiple copies of an album (1 for home, 1 for car, as an example), or if you want to use it on different devices, or if you want to be able to transfer your library back and forth.
Just to name a couple circumstances.
