This is Mister Coasters Week 5 review. These are so good I hate for folks to miss them.
Week 5 (aka the rich get richer)
More injuries, more bye weeks, more "WTF?" moments are what week 5 boils down to. Screaming Eagles are sitting pretty with that 5-0 record and a massive point lead. Can anyone topple the Titan? (so far the answer is no) Tom Brady was high point player for the week. Dog of the week was LenDale White with -1, but it didn't seem to matter to the Screamers, because there was also a goosegg for Jamal Lewis on the side of the Inferno.
Game of the week was once again a rout. Pain Train brought his namesake and a 56 point rout to last years champs. So much for that surge. The Train had high points of the week at 130. PT will also be Game of the week for week 6 vs the Screamers. It will take another 56 point beat-down to topple the #1 spot, but as you can see, it can be done. It looks like each team's key players will be in, so maybe not.
"Game of the Weak" was Swashbucklers. Swash did indeed have a full lineup out there, but the goon squad came up just a tad short... 61 short to be exact. Lions Lose laid the smack down on swash 114 - 53. Oooooo, that's gotta sting. Great smack-talk on the part of Lions Lose, bonus points for that.
And the Commish finally is out the basement with a win! Although the MVP's didn't exactly burn the hizzy down, 81 was enough to handily beat Raveners with 57. The Rav takes possession of the celler on points.
Donuts bested Mile High, who traded places with The Train for 2nd & 3rd. Despite 2 losses in a row, Mile High remains in a good spot, and Donuts moves up to 7th. 3rd-7th place are only separated by a single win, next week could make a big move either way for all 5 of those teams. Who will slide, who will glide, stay tuned.
On a personal note: I was seconds away from picking up Kenton Keith (backup RB for IND) but didn't pull the trigger. I woulda won my game if I had done it. I'm sure you all have a shoulda, coulda, woulda, but didn't story, feel free to share with the class.
Week 6 awaits... GO!
And week 6, again brought to you by Mister Coaster.
Week 6 (aka: I think I can, I think I can, I think I can)
Week 6 proved to be yet another exciting week with great matchups playing out once again. Not only that, but a new champ had risen to the top, barely.
Let's get the big one out of the way first, congratulations to Pain Train on an amazing victory over Screaming Eagles. Not only did the Train bring the Pain in the form of a win, but did so with enough points to to overtake the Screamers on points for the #1 spot, AND highest points for a team in the TFP league in a week. I'm sure the Screamers were thinking that it couldn't be done, and he had company, because neither did I. I expected this to be a matchup that The Train could win, but I never expected a 57 point blowout. Just go ahead and paint a big red "S" on Tom Brady's chest, because that guy is frikkin' Superman. High points for individual player for week 6 and is also highest single player points for weeks 1-6. Brady's always been a solid QB (both fantasy and real) but this season he's burning the damn field down.
Loser of week is Kurt Warner with bupkiss. I thought that the pickup of 'washed up" Warner by Dungeon Family was a good move because he usually does well when he has a start for AZ. 5 minutes into the actual play, and he's out like trout. In the fantasy matchup, that would mean both teams would have squat from a QB because Swashbucklers didn't have a playing QB in the slot, shame on you. Swash managed to get a W with minimal effort and poor points, but Dungeon came up even lower. Swash has somehow managed to get a 4-2 record (4th place) despite having only 556 total points (9th place). Luck of the draw I guess.
Another less-than-full lineup was Raveners with three, countem, three positions on a bye. Mile High took them apart. After glancing at the Rav's lineup, however, it was obvious that they simply had no other choice, except to drop their starters in order to fill spots. I suppose that would be based on expectations for next week and beyond. But at 1-4 (now 1-5) potential points for the future mean gonzo in the current week. Rav needs a win badly. Mile High stays in 3rd.
Inferno came from behind on Monday night on a good performance from the other Manning to beat Donuts. Brandon Jacobs wasn't hot enough to keep the Dough in front.
And finally the commish continues to climb up to 7th and has put together a little win streak, of TWO! The MVP's put up an impressive 133 with all out domination by all 3 WR's in the lineup, in the beat down of Lions Lose. I knew he could do it too, notice I voted for the underdog there. Lions slide to a .500 record, the only team at 3-3.
FILL THOSE LINEUPS NO MATTER WHAT!
