I actually tried the revo uninstaller as per Lasereth:
Ran Revo and removed all entries for Mcafee Shredder. Rogers (my provider which is the source of the free Norton's) software is now finding "mcafee internet security suite 2005". Revo does not find this entry so now were back to the begining again.
Also re-ran Mcafee removal programs MCPR.exe, MCPR2.exe no change.
So now I am thinking that Imight try one or both of the other options provided:
the unistaller freeware, or seeing if the AVG will overlay remnant mcaffee.
***********
Update: the AVG will not load on top of the so-called un-installed macaffee. Also tried to run the uninstaller found at Softpedia.
Macaffee is still there. Does this mean that I need to actually purchase Macafee again????
