Coil is much easier to replace than the plugs. Just remembered you've got a beetle, hope that doesn't matter to much. Remove AIR pump( 3 nuts,1 electrical connector, 2 hoses) and the coil pack is right there. Plugs are a PITA, disconnecting injectors,etc. Should also replace wires too.
