I went on a 7-day cruise of the Caribbean when I was 19 y.o. (20 years ago) with my parents (hey, they paid for everything). Here is what I remember.
1. I was the only single guy there between the ages of 15 and 30. You could count the number of 20-somethings on one hand. I was told by the cruise staff that they sold other cruises that were 80% young people with a more "party-like" atmosphere, so you probably will have a choice of the kind of cruise you want.
2. The food was unbelievable and abundant. I gained 10 pounds.
3. The island tours were OK, but they only take you to market type places. If you really want to explore, hire a cab to take you for the day. It's pretty cheap, and more fun. Especially if you can go with other people from the ship.
4. The caribean is a good choice because the islands are all close to each other. They sail at night, so there are fewer days that you are stranded on the boat.
5. Top shelf rum is cheap in the caribbean.
I would go again with my wife just to share the experience, but I think after you try it once, it's not something you would want to do too frequently.
