I still have a few blisters on my right foot from the couple miles I ran last week, but yesterday I got my pair of Puma H. Streets that I ordered off ebay. They are awesome... they weigh nothing and they're almost shaped like a pair of low heels, although obviously without the actual heel part. As you might expect, this encourages you to land on the balls of your feet rather than your heel. I feel like I could run forever in them, although last night I only had time for 2.5 miles.
I can already tell that my calves and ankles are stronger. I have been trying to "spring" off the ground as much as possible, similar to what mojodragon mentioned above. It does feel like you're almost floating on the ground rather than pounding the ground with each step.
