Most attractive women know that the way they look holds a lot of power over guys, but the flipside is that sometimes it means we have to do what we can to manage the number of guys who are interested. We just don't have the time to deal with all that, and it can be quite overwhelming. The other problem is that it's hard to know what men's motives are, and if they are interested from the get go, it's natural to assume that they are interested because of the way we look, and therefore their interest is purely sexual. Now I can't speak for every girl here but when I was young and naive I got burned many times by falling for a guy who turned out to only be interested in me for my looks. So forgive me if I'm wary of you, and if I maybe appear a little aloof at first.
