Week 3 (aka: I'm starting to see some patterns develop here)
Week 3 is but a memory, yet lets revisit it... shall we? 4 teams have "perfect" records. Two are perfectly awesome at 3-0 (Screaming eagles & Mile high) and two are perfectly awful at 0-3 (Montana's MVP's and Donuts). The rest are muffling around in the middle, with less than 40 points separating the lot of them. It is worth mentioning that the top 2 are not only 3-0, but are also #1 & #2 in total points, so it's not just luck of the draw, these teams are putting big points on the board.
Speaking of points on the board, Screaming Eagles (no surprise) were #1 in points in week 3 with a league high 158. The Screamers were able to topple the commish, despite the MVP's having the high points player of the week, Brett Favre. The golden turd goes to Lions Lose, who also garnished lowest league total for a single week at 80. But making a stab at it were Donuts with only 3 more. Disappointment of the week would be WR Steve Smith. After being one of the best in week 2, he managed only a single point in week 3. Also not doing well was Drew Brees, even though he made 23 points, that's really low for a QB. In fact, in the league I used to be in, (where completions do not count for a point each) his point total would have been -6!
Game of the Week turned into Game of the "Weak" with Pain Train steam-rolling right over the Lions by 44 points, sending the former #1 down to #4. I told you there is only one way to go if you are #1. So I was right about Pain Train bouncing back, but I was wrong about it being a barn burner. This game was over as soon as it begun, more specifically, about at halftime of the early games on Sunday. I think I glanced at the score and it was 91-25 at one point. I figured the Lions would bounce back, but it never happened. I kept looking to make sure the Lions had all 9 positions filled, they did, but when you have 4 players added together and it is 13, that aint gonna get the job done. Game of the week for week 4 will be the Clash of the Titans, the 2 league leaders, the undefeateds, the head honchos, the Big Kahunas, OK I'll stop. Screaming Eagles Vs Mile High. Everyone knows what's on the line here...
I noticed a lot of big numbers out there by individual players that were not QB's, K. Curtis with 40 (on the bench, D'OH) and B. Westbrook, A. Boldin and R. Brown all with over 30. But once again QB's dominate the highest totals thanks to completions being worth a point. Which means if your QB is hurtin, your team is probably hurtin' too.
Speaking of hurtin' Week 3 saw some key injuries rear up. If you have an injured starter, you already know who they are, no need to list them here. This, combined with the start of teams' bye weeks will make week 4 interesting. Chances are we'll see lower average scores. So... how's YOUR bench? We all know the Commish has a strong bench... sorry, couldn't resist. Now get those empty slots filled!
