The Rogue Nation of Lost Oblivion is a very large, devout nation, remarkable for its burgeoning Neanderthal population. Its compassionate, hard-working, cynical population of 85 million are ruled by a mostly-benevolent dictator, who grants the populace the freedom to live their own lives but watches carefully for anyone to slip up.
The government -- a sprawling, bureaucracy-choked morass -- is mainly concerned with Education, although the Environment and Social Equality are secondary priorities. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 29%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Gambling, Book Publishing, and Pizza Delivery industries.
Military funding has been stripped back, the mining industry is making inroads into environmentally sensitive areas, young children are regularly seen wagering pocket money at blackjack tables, and the government is avowedly atheist. Crime is totally unknown. Lost Oblivion's national animal is the Neanderthal, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the memita.
