I find that when people make unwarranted attacks on the character of another in a debate, it is generally because their own argument is so weak that they need to distract attention from it. On reading your subsequent argument, I find this theory has been reinforced. You say people will keep paying the mortgage, keep buying things, keep going to entertainment, etc. I'd like to know how you think they'll do that if they don't have any money.
