I've only ever done anal once. I really enjoyed it, since then I have had problems finding a guy that's open to the idea actually, asked both about it and got a flat out "nope not interested".
Pain wise I imagine it's kindof like if you go without sex for a long time the first few can be a little painful while your muscles relax / stretch.
