What pisses me off that such a small mistake on our end results in shit like this, but when the tax office fucks up and charges you 500$ instead of paying you $500 you have to wait over a year to get your fucking money back and then you're lucky if it's the amount you're owed but if were the other way round you'd have like $20,000 in late payment penalties piled up.
They didn't pay the bill because they didn't get it! They were supposed to be tax exempt, they had never had to pay taxes on the property so how can you purposely avoid paying a measly buck fiddy. The sheriff's office is partly to blame here. They got undelivered mail because of the property's address change and didn't bother to get it delivered. The IRS is the second biggest person to blame. They made absolutely no attempt to notify the family that the house was being put on the market. This really sucks for those people. Shit like this SHOULD NOT HAPPEN!
