Yeah, I have to agree with others here - go, be direct and firm, and get your allergy medication back. But I wouldn't expect to get another job from that person.
Personally, I would probably give you another chance, but I'm a softie. ;-) He's well within his rights to not hire you again, and that sounds exactly like what he's decided. You might be able to change his mind through persistence, but unless there's something special about this job, I would just move on.
