This is faulty logic. There's multiple possibilities as to why she didn't feel the need to double-check the prices. If she had a terminal in front of her, she may have been able to check what the correct prices were from there. She may have already had complaints and have been aware of the database error. Or she may have just been lazy.
Don't get me wrong, you do raise a compelling argument. While some of your experiences may merit further investigation, nothing you've written proves that it MUST be anything.
