Sorry - if I had thought more clearly I would have made all of this in my previous post. I'll restate and add to what I said earlier:
I'm trying to figure out what the upside to this admission could be. Anyone have thoughts? I'm also interested in the timing here... Couldn't this have been said at the point that Bush commuted Libby's sentence? It actually seemed to me that the issue was going away, inasmuch as the reality is sinking.
I feel like I have to choose between believing that this administration is impossibly inept at managing the news cycle, or that the alternative to stirring this pot was even worse...
