If you enjoy it, go ahead and play and stop worrying what others think.
When they see how much you enjoy it they might take up an interest themselves, and then you help grow your circle of friends and players.
Don't worry about what's "cool"; too many people shuffle along in a meaningless meandering between what was cool yesterday, and what they think will be cool tomorrow.
