The Believer 9/10
Too incredibly intense to have watched at 8 am in the morning when we couldn't go back to sleep. But, unlike the other moives with similar foci (
American History X, Romper Stomper and another I can't remember the name of at the moment), the focus was less on the intense violence and more on the internal struggle. As hard as it was to stomach Ryan Gosling spouting anti-Semetic "wisdom" and sounding intelligent, I appreciate the story and how they were able to humanize and delve deeper into the psyche of a kid who challenged the Torah and became violently opposed on the outside. The dialogue was amazingly intelligent and it freaked me out a bit to see him make a teeny bit of sense at one point...
