As I mentioned a few posts ago, I have a bunch of old Hitchcock movies in my Netflix queue... and I will be adding more of them soon, they are absolutely fantastic. These two coincidentally both starred Grace Kelly... and I must say that after watching these, she has a significant chance of dethroning Kate Beckinsale as my image of the "perfect woman".
Rear Window - 10/10
This movie was nearly perfect. The very end seemed a little rushed, but I won't hold that against this truly great film. I was amazed by how much of the story was told without using any dialogue... you simply had to watch what was happening just like the main character did. This created an enormous amount of suspense and depth to the characters because you were forced to analyse all of their non-verbal cues and emotions.
Dial M for Murder - 10/10
This movie was equally brilliant, although ironically it was almost the exact opposite of "Rear Window" in that there was a LOT of dialogue. Every line was perfectly scripted, and you had to pay very close attention to what was being said in order to keep everything straight and so you could view the situation from each character's perspective. Very, very cool movie.
