I had a friend that picked up a woman in a bar, and had much the same experience as WK's friend. It turns out that she was a professional dancer (ballet) and very rarely had vaginal sex. She didn't want to risk pregnancy at all.
I was told by another dancer that this is pretty common amongst dancers.
