Late to the party (that's me), but Medicaid can and will pay for family planning-- not abortion, but certainly contraceptives and some education. Here's a link to our state's info, but it's becoming more widespread:
Be Smart Be Ready. I work in social services, and my clients aren't stupid-- even the young ones. It's a choice to get pregnant. As for freebirthing, I have to say there is no way in high holy hell I'd be pushing out a kid without someone around who has had training! I love the idea of a birthing center and the comfort of knowing that I could get to a doctor ASAP if something went wrong. The idea of being at home with nobody around to help if there was a major problem is absolutely horrifying to me. If that's your personal choice, go for it. I can't imagine dealing with that myself unless there is no alternative.
