Speed only matters if you're doing something that needs a fast seek time (movie and/or sound editing for instance).
(Will - we have three of those Lacie 1TB drives at work. It's amazing ... 3TB of hard drive space for around $1200. We spent $150,000 on a 2TB SAN 5 years ago ...)
