it starts with the fertalization of the egg, then it goes deeper into the cellular structure to show what is going on at the quantum level. those people are cells, that hallway is the fallopian tube or one of those parts, and they have to split and join.
so, either it's what is happening during fertalization on a subcellular level or maybe it's an anti-war, pro-homosexuality movie. those are my guesses.
