Yes, I do this every time I shower, for the same reason as you (and SaltPork's wife)... my hair is super long and clogs the drain on a regular basis. I went through many years of clogging drains and pissing off my family and roommates before I came up with this tactic of pulling as many loose hairs as possible out before getting in the shower, then constantly pulling more loose hairs as I shampoo/condition/rinse, then pulling even more out when I am blowdrying it.
Still, even after all that, I manage to clog the drain now and then, as well as cover our floors in a carpet of my fallen hair. You would think I'd have gone bald by now... but no, it's thick and keeps on growing. Weird.
Anyway, my point is that I do the exact same thing. Sometimes I forget to retrieve it from the shower wall afterwards, though, and it gives my husband a fright when he sees it and thinks it's a large hairy spider crawling up the wall (my hair is dark brown).
