An addendum....I was first issued an M-1 Garand some fifty-eight years ago. It was a joy and a comfort to me in Korea (twice) and again,
in Vietnam. In Vietnam, I had the autonomy and the option to choose what weapon I would carry. I MR'd an M-1 Garand from an RVN unit.
I have an M1 Garand today...and it is still a joy and a comfort to me...as are two .45 Auto's and a .45 Long Colt.
