Basic appliance setup is a triangle. Sink to stove to fridge, for example. I wouldn't set up a table and chairs in the work area; flip the counter and stools 90 degrees to the livingroom so that there's a flow during social times.
Sinks traditionally face under a window, but there's nothing wrong with putting it on an island or wall. The lost area appears big enough for a dining/seating area, taking advantage of those windows and their view, as would the counter and stools.
Just thought of something: the sink can be placed more to the edge(facing would be more left) and the cooktop next to it, leaving the counterspace open.
