Well...to be fair, the us vs them mentality has been around for a lot longer than Bush and his posse. It's always been sort of a ground fog, hovering around. But, it
really started to solidify during the Clinton era. What Bush
has done is to hone that "us vs them" mentality into a fine razor's edge. And...he has taken it from American political discourse, and made it into foreign policy. He has effectively removed all wiggle room.
