"Pursuit of Happiness" 3/10 - Will Smith's performance is the only thing to enjoy in this film. In a nutshell it's the true story of a fella who gets every bad break imagineable. The fact that most of the events come out of sheer coincidence makes the movie annoyingly contrived and pointlessly depressing. Of course it all turns around ... but that happens only in the last 5 minutes of the film and it's something you knew was inevitable - only you expected more to happen after that. Bad, bad movie.

Thus when my eldest son asked me what he should have done, had he been present when I was almost fatally assaulted in 1908, whether he should have run away and seen me killed or whether he should have used his physical force which he could and wanted to use, and defended me, I told him that it was his duty to defend me even by using violence." - Mahatma Ghandi
