Missed Menses
I'm 45 and have not had a period since early February. I had a cyst (diagnosed via ultrasound), and my doc wants me to come in for hormones next week to force a period to happen, and he wants another ultrasound to monitor the cyst 3-7 days into that. He already tested my hormone levels, and they're normal, i.e., not waning.
I have always been very, very regular, so this is kind of a surprise to me. I realize it might be perimenopause. He told me that a period needs to be forced after 90 days since the tissue can become precancerous if you go over 90 days w/o it.
Any thoughts or related stories for me here? I really don't like the idea of artificial hormones -- at all -- but my period just won't come.
I had a very horrible and stressful job for the past 2 years which I left a few weeks after this period in early February. I don't want to ONLY put this down as stress-related, as I've been under a lot of stress before in recent years and this has never happened.
Anyone had this happen? Anyone been given hormones to force a period? Any other comments or advice? What about a naturopath?
Thanks so much for any advice!!
