When the SO and I were up there last summer, we spent a while musing over whether somebody trying to commit suicide could actually make it all the way past that second landing by jumping off at the observatory. We guessed not, but it looks like we were wrong! (I'm going to hell if I make the terrible joke I'm thinking.)
On a more serious note, it's scary when suicidal people have such little regard for other's lives. (Or maybe just not enough forethought?) This isn't as bad as the man who parked on the train tracks and lived, killing and injuring dozens on the train, but still.
