I love the way they look, if a girl has a nice stomach it can really enhance it even more. With that said, I do think that it makes a girl *appear* to be slutty, however, that's not necessarily a bad thing.
It comes down to what the puspose of you getting the ring is:
1. you'll want to flaunt it, to show it to the guys, make them want you, maybe make other girls jealous.
2. You're getting it because you want to please your significant other, maybe spice up your relationship.
Since you said you're young, I doubt that number 2 applies, leaving us with reason 1. That sounds like the actions of a slut to me. Note, again, this isn't a bad thing, you're young, you want to live a little. However, your father is probably right in his motivations for not letting you get the ring. Afterall, it is a parent's duty to lead their children along the "right" path. Sluttiness in the parent's handbook is not considered a good thing so it's natural for him to want to prevent you from going down that path. On the otherhand, we have your desire, to be able to express yourself how you see fit. What it boils down to is that as long as you are still under your father's care, it would be bad for you to get the piercing, however, when you move out do what you wish. If you still feel that peircings define you, ypu'll have total freedom to do so.
