I've got a similar dilemma (yet different). I want to add a post onto a thread I started last year that has been dormant since early November. However, I was the last person to post in that thread. Therefore, my new post (which would be totally and utterly different in scope and breadth) would be dragged kicking and screaming by the hair and auto-merged onto my last post in November, which would make the giant double-post pointless and stupid - vastly different from all my other posts.....
I sent a PM to BOR, about it, but apparently he laughed so hard at the idiocy of my question, fell off the toilet, and never replied.
