Tekken series - I've always had a grudge against Tekken. I haven't enjoyed ANY of the tekken games, the control scheme, the "dial a combo" style moves. Virtua Fighter eclipses this series in every way, except for crazy japanese character designs. Tekken has VF beat there. I can't say that's a GOOD thing though.
Dance Dance Revolution - I'll admit, I enjoy playing DDR. A place I used to work at had a DDR machine, and I spent several dollars playing it. But... some people literally OBSESS over this game. They will go to the arcade every day, a lot of the time by themselves, just to play DDR. I think the main reason they do this is so they can "show off" to people who have never played the game before. If they only knew that people were thinking "wow, look at this dork step on those arrows"
Bionic Commando - Man. What a great idea for a game. What a great idea ruined by such a mediocre game.
BLACK - Anybody remember this game? It was that console FPS that was nothing special.
Pokemon - I'll admit... I own several pokemon games. I had Pokemon blue on gameboy, and I have pokemon sapphire and leafgreen on GBA. I'm probably going to buy the new DS pokemon as well. But has anybody noticed that these are all the SAME GAME? They have different pokemon to catch, but they're just different graphics of the same thing. There are different maps, but the games are all basically the same. The first Pokemon was pretty groundbreaking, but everything afterwards... basically just graphical upgrades. Also, I'm aware that leafgreen is a remake of the original Pokemon, but ruby/sapphire/emerald are a different game that feels exactly the same.
Final Fantasy IX - The last FF on Playstation one. Their catchphrase for it was "the crystals have returned", or something along those lines. Joke's on anybody who believed that, the crystals don't make any type of appearance until the last disc of the game. The game was supposed to have the feel of "oldschool" FF games, but instead just threw a bunch of silly characters and an unmemorable story at you. Remember the rat girl? Guy with poofy orange dreadlocks/hair? How about the little girl? Yeah me neither. I don't understand why so many people loved this game.
Just so you all know, I'm not really biased towards any games or consoles, I'm objectively cynical towards all games. Even if it's a series I love, if they release any rotten eggs, I will condemn that game just as if it were released by SEGA after they decided to go multiplatform. Has sega released anything good besides Virtua Fighter since they went multiplatform?
