The movies have a lot of cheesy moments, but the comic book itself is full of these.
My main complaint so far is the Green Goblin. I don't think I need to explain.
As for will's comment on Hellboy being the best comic-to movie adaptation, I'm not sure. I never read Hellboy but the movie bored me.
I liked X-men 1 and 2 a lot, and 3 was a massive dissapointment.
IMO, Batman Begins takes the cake as the best adaptation. Maybe a thread should be created on comic-based movies.

I agree with most of your comments. Spider-Man 1 & 2 weren't impossibly bad, but the cheesy moments ate at me then (and still do now). I realize that the comics have their share of cheesy moments, but if that was their attempt at a faithful translation, then they might want to keep the origin stories a bit more in line. I also was blown away by Hellboy and, yes, I did read the comics. As to the X-Men series, X3 made want to send death threats to the filmmakers. Lastly, if it weren't for the way the fight scenes were filmed (I don't think I need to explain), I would say Batman Begins was a near perfect comic book movie.
