well, they already did take *something* out. the emotion engine that gave backwards compatibility to the ps2 library has been removed from the pal region ps3, and starting in April, sony will remove the ee from north america and japan territories as well. instead ps2 emulation will be done entirely by software updates. saves 'em $27 bucks a console, or so i've heard.
