Velcro seems to work for both the very young and very old.
Somewhere in the middle and for some unknown reason we turn our noses up at velcro as if we are too sophisticated now that we've learned to tie laces.
Personally, I use the
standard knot and cinch the shit out of them. Of course, I go through several pairs of shoelaces a year....
