yeah, the lack of simple tipping isn't worth the 1% i'm saving. either change the tax to something that goes into 15% more easily (may i recommend a federal tax of 1.5%, and no more pst?) or have 14% gratuity be considered the new norm. oh, better yet, combine those. 1.4% total tax, and 14% gratuity. or how about there no longer being an expected amount for tipping? i tip what i feel like, depending on what service i've been given for the tip. my cab driver was pissed off when i gave $20 for an $18 fare. more than 10%, after he had stayed in the warm cab while i loaded my groceries into the trunk. and don't tell me "15% gratuity" added in advance, my tip is how i compliment or berate my server. served me a meal with no problems? 15%. screwed up a drink order? 10-15%. met me in bathroom for a quickie to make up for it? 50%. there's no strict guide, but you get it.
oh...and yeah, that tax. no, actually, i'm not really feeling the difference...
