Lost Attempts
I try to pull you from the wreckage,
But you hold fast to the crumpled mass.
My efforts to breathe life into you are in vain,
As your airways remain restricted.
The attempts to massage your heart are failed,
It’s unreachable through the scarred up wall.
I try to protect you from getting burned,
But the wicked flames engulf you.
As I realize I can’t save you,
I say a prayer for your soul.
In Time
You breeze into my life and with an
unexpected lift, you sweep me up.
~ And I smile ~
My hesitant heart softens to your touch,
the fears slide to the recesses of my mind.
~ And I relax ~
Without a word spoken, you read me,
the look in my eyes, the expression on my face,
~ And you know ~
Yet you respect my world, my place,
you give what I will receive.
~ And you give it well ~
A sample of who you are is here,
leaving me craving for more.
~ In time ~

Hollow Echo
False hopes hold me wrapped in their arms,
knowing I need to release you.
Standing on the doorstep of this empty heart,
I dare not knock for the hollow echo pierces my soul.
Providing space leaves me depleted
by the distance that ensues.
Another bars you, and confusion
pulls you into that trammeled world.
I weep to see you torn amidst the
questions that reside.
Your clarity is there, trapped behind the
door of memories past.
Grace and dignity guide me as I blindly
stumble to step aside.
Silence speaks volumes if you open up
and closely listen.
The heart needs no words, the lyrics that
reside are visible through the eyes.
Souls collided, only to linger in the
space of endless confusion.
I bow my head and pray.
