I know if I stand still when fighting my brother (Lasereth) in WoW he will literally kill me in two swings. This is coming from a 61 mage with 3800 HP.

No I wouldnt, but if someone with a 5 foot axe swung it at me and i evaded it he would be so far out of position he wouldnt be able to run around in a circle before i stuck my knife in his chest.

WoW needs it because there are so few attack options, it is a very basic game, most melee types have 2 or 3 styles and its rinse and repeat, the game was made imo for 12 year old caster boys, where range rules.
I see it in the styles rogues get where there isnt 1 powerful frontal stealth attack style,
