How has anti-tank measures kept up? That would be a critical factor I would assume.
I can't remember exactly but I seem to recall that shoulder-fired anti-tank guns etc did very well in recent battles (Israel-Lebanon?). This summer when I was in Israel, I made it up to the Lebanese border and watched tank convoys roll into Lebanon. I think the Lebanese (Hizbollah) did manage to take out some of the tanks though.
Given the reluctance for some armies to put "boots on the ground", I would think then that tank warfare would be more difficult to implement.
