Sure we can. It's possible to discuss the resulting work as an entity in itself that exists separate from what motivations went into creating it as it exists. I'd even argue that, once the decisions have been made and the product finalized, it becomes an entity that exists separate from whatever motivations the creators had for it.

Of course, but what I was reading here was a discussion of what Adama would have done, with nobody arguing about whether it was a fictional, scripted show.
