Tanks are still very important, but for battles between first-world countries they will necessarily be de-emphasised because modern man-portable anti-tank weapons are nearly impossible for a tank to stop.
They are fire and forget, have a range of over 2500 meters (max actual range isn't published), have a two-stage shape charge to defeate reactive armor, and will automatically attack the top of any vehicle it is fired at (unless the operator selects a direct attack).
