interesting thread.
here's some older stuff that i am interested in these days:
anything by love (arthur lee)
can: tago mago, ege bamyasi, future days
robert wyatt: rock bottom, ruth is stranger than richard
pink floyd: piper at the gates of dawn
gang of four: entertainment
pere ubu: dub housing
the stooges: fun house
mc5: kick out the jams
captain beefheart: anything you can get your hands on, but especially trout mask replica, doc at the radar station and safe as milk
frank zappa/mothers of invention: freak out is classic. so is we're only in it for the money, ruben and the jets, lumpy gravy, weasels ripped my flesh, overnight sensation (montana especially)--and the solo stuff through zoot allures--after that i kinda lost interest, but that's just me.
roxy music: the first 3 albums (roxy music, for your pleasure, country life)
soft machine: the first 3 albums are fucking brilliant.
o yeah: i am listening to pharoah sander's "the creator has a master plan" which is from the mid 60s, an excellent record, but for some reason i dont think of it as an "oldie"--maybe because it never got radio play in the first place. actually, none of this stuff really did. ah well.
