Lucky Number Sleven 7/10
I enjoyed this movie a lot. I wouldn't recommend it to everyone in the world, but it is a must see for fans of this type of movie. (Grosse Pointe Blank, The Whole Nine Yards, Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005)).
So if you're a fan of antihero hitmen, you will love this one. It is not quite as funny or touching as the others I mentioned, but it is a lot more surprising. It is not as surprising as Momento or the Usual Suspects but the characters are a lot more likeable. Sadly, Lucy Liu kicks no ass at all. But it has a happy if hard to believe ending.
Speaking of spoilers, DO NOT READ THE BACK OF THE DVD CASE. It gives away one of the key surprises.
Ben Kingsley nailed his role, an absolutely convincing crime boss. Josh Hartnett was hilarious and believable, hard but friendly.
Lucy Liu played a perfect romantic lead. The movie would have been much better if it had revealed her character more. Or if she had hit someone with a stick.
There is no fighting and only a little gunplay. There is very little sexiness (mostly Lucy Lui looking hot but all covered up). Still it manages to be a very fun and likeable action comedy.
