I feel like this everyday. We jazz musicians wrestle with the question of what is and what isn't jazz. I try and avoid it, but it's interesting to entertain. The older I get the more I think the definition is this: Jazz is an art form whose musicians are always seeking ways of improving - relentlessly, always looking for the next frontier to cross.
I'm trying to do this and question everyday if I'm living up to this standard.
