I try to busy myself with other things, and just let it pass.
Most recently, I broke off a friendship with a really awful person. Through it all, it felt like my world was falling apart. I thought that people wouldn't like me and that my other friends would leave me, but after about two weeks, everything seemed to work out. In short, I was overreacting.
I don't know if this is the same type of anxiety as yours, but if it is, imho, it's best to try to worry about more important things and move on.
